Job description

About Synergy Construction Group (Synergy)

Synergy is a growing construction management and general contracting firm specializing in multifamily, adaptive reuse, and commercial construction throughout Greater Boston predomently focused on our in-house development projects. Our projects range from commercial fit-outs and renovations to complex office-to-residential conversions and ground-up developments, with project values typically ranging from $2 million to $20 million.

We are committed to delivering exceptional quality while building lasting relationships with our clients, consultants, subcontractors, and team members. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to take ownership of meaningful projects while working directly with company leadership.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will oversee construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Initial assignments may include managing a 36-unit multifamily development or multiple smaller commercial and multifamily projects throughout Greater Boston.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with ownership, take on significant responsibility, and grow alongside an expanding construction management firm.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and monthly cost forecasts.
  • Prepare and negotiate subcontractor buyouts and oversee subcontractor performance.
  • Lead Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and maintain strong communication with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate closely with superintendents and field staff to maintain project schedules, quality, and safety.
  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and project correspondence.
  • Oversee procurement of long-lead materials and coordinate timely deliveries.
  • Review subcontractor invoices and prepare monthly owner requisitions.
  • Identify and resolve project issues proactively while minimizing schedule and budget impacts.
  • Maintain regular communication with company ownership regarding project progress, risks, and financial performance.
  • Ensure projects are completed successfully and transitioned through closeout, punch list, and warranty phases.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial construction experience, including experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager.
  • Experience managing commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, or adaptive reuse construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, budgeting, and project financial management.
  • Experience with Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, or similar construction management software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $115,000–$135,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Performance-based bonus.
  • Health insurance.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Mileage reimbursement or vehicle allowance (where applicable).
  • Opportunities for significant professional growth and advancement.

Why Join Synergy?

At Synergy, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing company. Unlike larger firms where responsibilities are often narrowly defined, you'll take ownership of projects, work directly with company leadership, and play an integral role in delivering some of Greater Boston's most exciting multifamily, adaptive reuse, and commercial developments. Synergy is part of the broader Burns Companies ecosystem spanning property management, development, brokerage, and related properties services and would give applicants exposure to so much more than simply joining another construction firm.

If you're looking for a collaborative environment where your contributions are valued and your career can continue to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
