We are currently looking for a MEP Construction Project Manager located on-site in Colonial Heights, VA. The MEP Construction Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Building Systems activities throughout the construction lifecycle. This role oversees design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, budget management, scheduling, quality control, safety compliance, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful project

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all MEP-related matters.

  • Lead MEP construction activities from preconstruction through project closeout.

  • Develop and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and staffing strategies.
    Manage multiple MEP projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and schedule objectives.

  • Review and coordinate MEP design documents, shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.

  • Develop and manage MEP project budgets and forecasts

  • Identify and resolve clashes, constructability issues, and design conflicts.

  • Assist in the development and management of the project strategic plans and program initiatives to meet the goals and needs of the Owner.

  • Develop detailed MEP construction schedules and milestone plans.

  • Manage procurement of major MEP equipment and materials.

  • Lead MEP testing, startup, commissioning, and systems integration activities.

  • Act as Owner's Advisor with primary responsibility for all phases of project.

  • Manage overall planning, design, and construction process and orchestrate all activities related to design and construction.

  • Guide Clients through the complexities of design and construction, with a focus on incorporation of ownership priorities into design, construction logistics and sequencing, as well as design management of the architecture and engineering teams.

  • Coordinate with the Architect, Contractor, and other project team members to meet the project objectives and resolve issues.

  • Lead all elements related to contracts; including negotiating, drafting and executing.

  • Manage overall project budget and schedule. Report to project team and client on a regular basis.

  • Lead proposal review, leveling and analysis and present to the Client.

  • Lead selection process for all consultants and vendors, including preparation of RFQ/RFP, researching and comparing firms under consideration, and recommending and negotiating optimum business terms. This also includes team selection within firms.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Services Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in MEP construction management.

  • Experience managing manufacturing or warehouse projects is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of: HVAC systems, Electrical distribution systems, Plumbing systems, Fire protection systems, Building automation systems (BAS) and Commissioning processes.

  • Firm knowledge and understanding of construction methods, materials and sequences, and architectural/construction drawings and specifications.

  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as business presentation skills.

  • The ability to effectively interface with all levels of management and staff across organizational lines, including other client business units.

  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated success at building team relationships and partnerships across organizational lines.

The salary range for this full-time role is $109,600.00-$146,133.35 per year. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
