Assistant Project Manager – Commercial ConstructionBuild Your Career with Benderson Development

We're looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our construction team and help bring commercial projects from concept to completion. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders, and gaining hands-on experience in all phases of commercial construction.

What You'll Do

As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll work alongside experienced project managers and construction professionals to support the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist with project planning, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and overall project coordination.

  • Help track project timelines, costs, and milestones to keep projects moving forward efficiently.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation including contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting notes, and progress reports.

  • Participate in project meetings and help ensure action items are communicated and completed.

  • Visit project sites regularly to monitor progress, support quality control efforts, and help resolve field issues.

  • Assist with contract administration, invoice processing, and budget tracking.

  • Review drawings and plans to identify potential issues, improve constructability, and support project objectives.

  • Help ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, final documentation, and turnover requirements.

  • Look for opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and contribute to continuous improvement across the construction team.

What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, project coordination, estimating or project management.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and tenants.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.

  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software is a plus.

  • Familiarity with construction documents, scheduling, budgeting, and project controls.

  • Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction sites, including walking uneven terrain, climbing ladders, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to climb ladders up to 25 feet.

  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

  • Ability to wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
