We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to lead day‐to‐day field operations on commercial and/or multifamily construction projects in New Jersey, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.

About the Role

The Project Superintendent is the primary on‐site leader responsible for coordinating all field activities, managing subcontractors, enforcing safety and quality standards, and serving as the main liaison between the project team, inspectors, and ownership. You will work closely with the Project Manager and office staff to execute the project plan, maintain project documentation, and proactively resolve issues in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all on‐site construction activities from mobilization through closeout for assigned projects.

  • Supervise field crews and subcontractors, including scheduling, daily direction, and performance oversight.

  • Develop and maintain the site logistics plan, including laydown areas, access, deliveries, and site security.

  • Monitor work progress against the project schedule; coordinate with the Project Manager to update look‐ahead schedules and mitigate delays.

  • Enforce and promote jobsite safety in accordance with OSHA, New Jersey regulations, and company policies; conduct regular safety walks and toolbox talks.

  • Ensure all work complies with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and quality standards; perform routine quality inspections and punch‐list walks.

  • Coordinate inspections with local building departments, special inspectors, and third‐party agencies; ensure required permits and approvals are in place.

  • Review drawings, RFIs, and submittals; proactively identify conflicts or constructability issues and propose field solutions.

  • Track and document daily activities, manpower, deliveries, and site conditions using project management software and daily reports.

  • Assist with cost control in the field, including verifying quantities, approving subcontractor timesheets, and supporting change order documentation.

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, design teams, inspectors, and neighbors; represent the company as the primary field contact.

  • Support project closeout including commissioning, final inspections, punch‐list completion, and turnover documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Superintendent or Construction Superintendent on commercial, industrial, or multifamily projects (ground‐up and/or major renovations).

  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, scheduling, and site logistics.

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements; OSHA 30 (preferred) or OSHA 10 at minimum.

  • Proficiency with construction management tools (e.g., Procore, Prolog, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar) and basic Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict‐resolution skills; able to direct diverse trade partners in a fast‐paced environment.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout New Jersey as needed.
