Job description

Construction Manager
Collier Engineering is seeking a seasoned Construction Manager with a strong background in bridge construction and roadway and paving operations. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact infrastructure projects across Middle Tennessee, ensuring quality execution, safety, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will support and report to our County Services Department Manager, while also building strong relationships with Collier Engineering inspectors, managers, clients, and contractors in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in overseeing construction activities for bridge, roadway, and paving projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, utility providers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients and project stakeholders to address questions, concerns, and updates.
  • Monitor progress, track quantities, and assist with documentation including daily reports, pay applications, and change orders.
  • Participate in quality assurance checks, safety reviews, and schedule coordination meetings.
  • Enforce safety and quality standards in accordance with TDOT, local, and federal guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in bridge, roadway and paving construction.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and standards related to bridges, paving, and grading.
  • Familiarity with TDOT specifications, permitting processes, and construction documentation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and client service skills.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in construction documentation and reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., TDOT, NICET, OSHA, ACI) a plus.
