Job description

The Site Construction Manager will possess all skills & experience to plan and supervise a wide range of (general) Contractors & personnel from start to finish. You will actively help the contractors organize and manage construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a safe, timely and efficient manner. A Construction Manager must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the desired results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and good organizational skills and will have at least ten years' experience in a similar role. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

What will you do?

  • Organize and supervise the overall work on site of the project and provide direction and guidance when needed
  • Ensure compliance on site with safety, health, and quality standards
  • Ensure all legal requirements, building and safety codes, inspections, and governmental regulations are met 
  • Set performance goals and deadlines for the different contractors
  • Plan, monitor and ensure proper timely execution of all construction operations, including intermediate phases to ensure accomplishment of project goals 
  • Support design consultants / team to develop all required scope of work documents including but not limited to drawings, specifications, guidelines and standards
  • Assist in the creation of all required project schedules, evaluate progress, and present detailed schedule reports 
  • Support utility coordination and applications
  • Support the project team in solicitation and procurement of subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and materials 
  • Support the submittal process
  • Support the change management process
  • Ensure the implementation of project specific quality control and quality assurance plans in accordance with corporate policy 
  • Perform due diligence and entitlement duties as required
  • Support in obtaining permits and licenses from appropriate authorities as required
  • Build and maintain market relevant relationships
  • Supervise and mentor subordinate staff and provide constructive feedback
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies
  • Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings, and facilitating cooperation among contractors and vendors

Experience and qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Evidence of a strong background in Construction Management
  • Willing to be on site full time
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles 
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Familiarity with scheduling software such as P6 and Microsoft Project
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Self-Starter with ability to identify and execute normal project management duties
  • A team player with leadership abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English 
  • Native Spanish language
