Job Title: Commercial Mechanical Superintendent

Location: Dothan, AL

Employment Type: Full-time

Salary: $72,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year (OTE with bonuses: on average $110,000 - $125,000+ per year)

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Mechanical Superintendent to lead and manage complex HVAC construction projects from initiation through to successful completion. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of commercial HVAC systems and construction processes, and a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence and fostering a collaborative, productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership & Management:

    • Oversee all aspects of commercial HVAC construction projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

    • Develop, implement, and meticulously manage project schedules, coordinating daily tasks and effectively allocating labor and resources to meet critical milestones.

    • Proactively identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve complex construction challenges efficiently to maintain project momentum.

  • Team Supervision & Development:

    • Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and daily supervision to HVAC crews, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    • Ensure clear and consistent communication within the team and across all project stakeholders.

    • Motivate and empower the team to achieve superior workmanship and productivity.

  • Quality Assurance & Control:

    • Implement stringent quality control measures to ensure all HVAC installations meet or exceed project specifications, industry standards, and relevant codes.

    • Conduct regular inspections to verify the quality of work and compliance with design documents.

  • Coordination & Collaboration:

    • Serve as the primary liaison between field operations, project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.

    • Effectively manage and coordinate the activities of various trades and subcontractors to optimize workflow and prevent delays.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Champion a safety-first culture, strictly enforcing all job site policies, procedures, and standards.

    • Ensure all on-site personnel comply with OSHA regulations and company safety protocols, conducting regular safety briefings and inspections.

  • Financial Oversight:

    • Monitor project costs diligently, identify potential change orders, and contribute to managing the project budget effectively to ensure financial targets are met.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive project records, including daily logs, progress reports, safety documentation, and material usage.

    • Provide timely updates and reports to upper management and project stakeholders.

  • Client Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in Commercial HVAC construction, with a strong focus on installation and project supervision.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supervising field employees within the construction industry.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, particularly commercial HVAC systems (installation, maintenance, troubleshooting).

    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and project specifications.

  • Leadership & Management Skills:

    • Exceptional leadership and supervisory abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to motivate, manage, and develop a high-performing team.

    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
