Senior Safety Manager – Self Perform DivisionClark Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead and elevate our safety program for the Self Perform Division. This role is ideal for an experienced safety professional who is passionate about cultivating a proactive safety culture, driving compliance, and supporting our teams in delivering exceptional results across multiple market sectors.The Senior Safety Manager will oversee all aspects of safety management, including program administration, training, site-specific safety planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will partner closely with superintendents, project managers, trade contractors, and senior leadership to ensure the highest safety standards across all operations.Responsibilities:Lead and manage the Safety and Health Program for Clark Contracting Services (Self Perform Division).Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans, JSAs, and other required documentation.Enforce compliance with contractual health and safety requirements for all trade contractors and suppliers at every tier.Coordinate and oversee the Health and Safety Committee, ensuring productive meetings and actionable outcomes.Recommend and help develop relevant training topics and materials to strengthen company-wide safety awareness.Organize and lead company safety meetings, promoting open communication and continuous learning.Analyze incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.Collaborate with insurance representatives, state inspectors, and regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.Maintain and ensure compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA recordkeeping and documentation standards.Support the Safety Director by coordinating with the company, workers' compensation carrier, healthcare providers, and injured employees to manage and resolve claims efficiently.Assist with the annual review and update of the company safety manual, incorporating new standards from OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, EGLE, and other regulatory authorities.Provide expert advice and coaching to supervisory and field personnel on incident prevention and safe work practices.Champion a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and proactive safety leadership.Requirements:Proven experience as a Senior Safety Leader or Safety Director within the construction industry (self-perform experience strongly preferred).Demonstrated success managing safety programs for multiple project sites or market sectors.Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA standards and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization and with external partners.Willingness and ability to travel across the state of Michigan as needed.Relevant certifications (e.g., CHST, CSP, OSHA 500/510, or equivalent) preferredWhy Work with Us?At Clark, we believe in fostering a work environment built on trust, collaboration, and excellence.
