Job description

Laborer – Highway Department 

The Town of Greenfield is accepting applications for an entry level full-time laborer position at the Highway Department. 

Starting salary: $22/hour 

40 Hours a week plus overtime as needed 

Primary duties may include but not limited to the following: 

·         Preform a wide variety of manual tasks related to highway construction and maintenance, such as resurfacing and reconstructing roads 

·         Cutting brush and mowing along roadways 

·         Collect road debris 

·         Assist snowplow operators as a wing person 

·         Act as a flag person, directing traffic safely through a work zone  

·         Clear streams and remove debris from drainage pipes, ditches etc. 

·         Repair and maintain catch basin 

·         Clean trucks and equipment 

·         Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors which may include trash removal, erecting snow fences, operating small machinery, maintaining signs etc. 

·         Performs heavy manual labor for prolonged periods often under adverse weather conditions 

·         Does related work as needed 

Minimum Qualifications: 

·         Ability to work overtime 

·         Must possess a valid New York State drivers license and maintain current license with a good driving record for duration of employment
