Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Manager, interested in playing a key role in expanding the capabilities and client base of our construction inspection, documentation and materials testing services in Texas.

The ideal candidate has an engineering degree, experience with Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I) projects with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and other Texas clients. Leadership skills are necessary to grow staff and expand our client base. Preferred location of candidate is in Austin, Dallas, El Paso or Houston.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as Project Manager on key CEI projects, as well as related geotechnical, CMT, and other professional services.
  • Responsible for executing scope, schedule, budget within contract terms
  • Lead, manage and develop the CEI Team in Texas
  • Develops and maintains effective client relations; leverages project experience to win follow-on work
  • Identifies and pursues new opportunities to grow CEI, geotechnical, CMT and other professional services in Texas
  • Independently develops project proposals and assists in preparation of large-scale proposals
  • The successful candidate will be part of the core management team and will have significant opportunity for growth
  • Conducts technical review of project deliverables and signs / seals deliverables as appropriate for submittal to the client
  • Coordinate, attend and run regular scheduled progress meetings
  • Provide continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality and seamless customer service
  • B.S. or M.S. Civil Engineering (geotechnical engineering preferred)

Skills / Qualifications
  • 10+ years of related experience; Experience in major metropolitan areas throughout Texas preferred
  • Professional Engineering Registration in Texas or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Strong technical capability with CEI, Geotechnical, CMT and other related services
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and win work
  • Ability to track and manage job costs and implement steps to maximize profit
  • Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency and attention to detail. Proven track record leading and successfully completing small and large scale projects
  • Committed to successfully mentoring junior staff
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Possess an extensive understanding of construction standards and practices
  • Able to create and aggressively manage construction schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge
  • Motivated to develop business from new and existing clients
  • Proficient in Microsoft Business Suite Applications and project scheduling tools
  • Flexibility to travel to construction sites for extended periods and work outside of normal business hours
  • Valid Texas drivers license
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
