The Construction Field Engineer will support field operations by providing engineering expertise, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
  • Displays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work.
  • Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design.
  • Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting.
  • May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors.
  • Support daily field operations on heavy civil construction sites, including excavation, structural concrete, grading, and utility installation.
  • Assist with interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and work plans for field crews.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and assist in tracking material usage and equipment needs on site.
  • Monitor work for compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with survey teams for layout, elevations, and as-built data collection.
  • Prepare daily field reports, photo documentation, and work logs to support project tracking and billing.
  • Assist with resolving field issues by working with superintendents, subcontractors, and design engineers.
  • Participate in job site safety meetings, audits, and ensure PPE and safety protocols are being followed.
  • Support preparation and tracking of RFIs, submittals, and minor change requests from the field.
  • Use construction software and tools to report progress and support communication between field and office teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous heavy civil construction experience

  • This position is based in Renton, WA

The salary range for this position is between $100,000-$115,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
