ASRC Federal System Solutions, LLC. (AFSS), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration, Civil Engineering, and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. AFSS is seeking a Principal Construction Engineer to work within the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) Civil Engineering organization based in Colorado Springs, CO.

ย As a Construction Engineer on the DARC program you will be part of the team responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of the DARC radar site(s). Primary scope of the site development project includes mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs for the facility supporting the Radar System. Specifically, the site design must address roads, ductbanks, foundations for many large antennas, multiple facilities, large cooling systems, water management, power plant, electrical distribution, BMS/SCADA, and security fencing.

The successful candidate should have a background as a Construction Engineer, or similar. They should have some broad site development experience with depth in one or more areas of the primary scope, be able to work in a large team environment, and work collaboratively with all Engineering disciplines and Program Management to meet our customerโ€™s needs.

In this position you will have an opportunity to:

  • Derive and allocate site facility and construction requirements
  • Support the management of Architecture Engineering & Construction (AE&C) subcontracts
  • Review and redline large drawing packages for 30/60/90% design reviews
  • Support earned value and cost management
  • Provide schedule inputs
  • Brief program leadership on project status and risk management

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance.
  • Principal: Bachelor's of Science Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.ย  (May be upgraded for additional experience and education)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tool suite
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Experienced with the Architecture and Engineering (A&E) design process
  • Experienced with reading, interpreting, and review of A&E drawing packages
  • Experienced with site design, development, and construction
  • Experienced with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
  • Experienced with reading and applying codes, standards, and regulations
  • Technical design experience in at least one primary element of A&E design (e.g., power plant or BESS design, HV/LV power distribution, facility mechanical systems, BMS or SCADA design)
  • Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS 25%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Technical design experience in more than one primary element of A&E design
  • Major subcontract technical management
  • Experienced with managing large scale A&E design projects
  • Experienced with delivering projects in the United States for the Department of Defense
  • Experienced with overseas construction
  • Experienced with International Building Code (IBC)
  • Experienced with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
  • Experienced with supervising large scale construction projects
  • Experienced with proposal development and proposal evaluation
  • Experienced with construction cost estimating software (i.e., RSMeans)
  • Experienced with value-added engineering and constructability analysis
  • Experienced with earned value management and program schedule derivation
  • Experienced with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (i.e., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or other)
  • Experienced with Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experienced with data center design
  • Experienced with Radio Frequency (RF) systems such as radars or satellite communications systems
