Job Description:

This is a professional position for a Construction Engineering Intern working for an engineering consulting firm in the oil and gas, mining, and heavy industrial industries. The candidate will be responsible for supporting EPC estimates, assist in constructability reviews, assisting a support team during start-up and commissioning. There will be additional data or construction performance requirements that will be required based on the Director of Construction needs or observations.

ZAP's success is largely due to strong team collaboration within a high-energy atmosphere. The candidate filling this position will be expected to be able to work and communicate within multiple teams. The candidate must be self-sufficient, yet be able to take direction when given, as well as eager to learn and driven to succeed.

  • Candidate will assist with the completion of technical deliverables with support from the construction team as the needs of the company dictate.
  • Candidate will coordinate with Construction Managers, the Director of Construction, and the Vice President of Construction on construction deliverables.
  • Candidate will assist in developing proposals. Candidate will maintain department guidelines and standards.
  • Candidate must have excellent time management skills, be a self-starter with strong initiative, a team player, and an effective communicator, both written and oral.

Typical Job Tasks:

  • Provide technical assistance to the Construction Group on all construction deliverables
  • Work with Director of Construction assisting in constructability reviews and EPC estimates
  • Assist in development of commissioning plans
  • Assist with construction job book turnovers
  • Assist with construction RFIs and field coordination

Essential Functions:

  • Understands multidiscipline engineering consulting projects and construction execution.

  • ZAP is successful when deadlines are met. You will work with project management to develop schedules and durations for required tasks.
  • Support the execution of projects within budgets utilizing task metrics. Communicates clearly and proactively regarding budgets.

Attendance:

  • Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.
  • Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Ability to travel up to an average of 20%.
  • This is an in-office position, presence in office is required.
