Construction Assistants are entry-level workers who support construction projects by helping skilled workers, maintaining tools and equipment, preparing job sites, and performing various tasks as directed by supervisors. They play a crucial role in ensuring that projects run smoothly and efficiently. Construction Assistants may also assist with basic carpentry, cleaning up debris, unloading materials, and following safety protocols on site. This position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience and opportunities to advance in the construction industry.

What does a construction assistant do?

Construction assistants perform a number of administrative and support tasks for the managers of a construction company. Their job duties include clerical duties, such as filing and answering calls, keeping an inventory of company tools and materials, and following up with customers and vendors. The qualifications to become a construction assistant include a high school diploma or an equivalent and organizational skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a construction assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Construction Assistant, you need a solid understanding of construction processes, basic math skills, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with construction tools, safety protocols, and project management software like Procore or Buildertrend is beneficial. These skills ensure projects run smoothly, safely, and efficiently, contributing to overall job site success.
