Job description

Description In the absence of the Center's Food Service Worker 1, The Alternate Food Service Worker 1 is responsible for carrying out the Food Service Worker 1's duties as follows: the Alternate Food Service Worker 1, in a Multi-Service Senior Center, is under the direct supervision of the Senior Center Manager 2 and has the responsibility of ensuring that the congregate meal program functions in a manner consistent with the policy of the Area Agency on Aging and other appropriate state and local agencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Food Service Responsible for insuring that the center's congregate meal program is consistent with all of the applicable health and sanitation regulations Monitors the quality of the bulk food, temperature, and portions on a daily basis Reports any inadequacies to the nutrition project director; Senior Center Services Director 2 Preheats the steam serving counter, prepares the hot and cold beverages, sets up the serving counter with the food, trays, dishes, and utensils Coordinates the distribution of the hot food items with the assistance of the volunteers. Sanitation: Responsible for coordinating the washing of the pots and pans and other preparatory utensils.

Sanitizes the dining, serving, and kitchen areas. Responsible for the cleaning of the refrigerators, food carts, coffee pots, and other equipment with the assistance of the volunteers Record Keeping Responsible for the inventory of the nutrition supplies, monitoring the nutrition records, and the counting and depositing of the nutrition contributions Processing a participant's request for a therapeutic diet Performs other duties as required Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Eligibility - All Candidate(s): To Be eligible for consideration for this position, an applicant must meet all the following requirements: Ability to learn the proper care and use of simple food service utensils and equipment Ability to learn routine tasks involved in the food service operation Ability to learn the methods, materials, and practices used in maintaining established standards of cleanliness Ability to work effectively with other people Ability to follow simple oral instructions APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: 1.)
