Job description

The School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking applicants for a full-time,  faculty position at Assistant Professor rank (non-tenured) in the Department of Health Care Sciences.
 
Duties will include:
 
  • Design and implement activities to assist faculty to improve their teaching and communication skills.
  • Assist faculty in reliably assessing learner's acquisition of knowledge in communications and communication skills. Assist in instruction of communication skills to students including speech communication and conflict resolution.
  •  Assist in the design and implementation of methods to assess learning outcomes.
  •  Develop and carry out research related to communication skills and concepts in a professional healthcare education environment. Serve as a lecturer for all three schools at UT Southwestern.
     
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have earned a Master's degree in communications or a closely related field. Demonstrated research capabilities and scholarly production in the communications field. Experience in instructional design, development, and evaluation of communications courses. Experience in developing and delivering online courses and classroom instruction. Knowledge of higher education principles, practices and procedures within a medical environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
