SUMMARY

Provides Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing support to plan, implement and monitor process definition and design configurations through ERP system and document control system. Create, develop, document, and implement manufacturing bill of materials and router details for production product and product templates. Support Engineering DCN and ECN process by assisting Engineering in documenting the configuration releases and monitoring status and implementation. Generate CAD models and prints for detailed component and assembly machining, inspection and use for companies bellows products and associated tooling.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (95%)

The Configuration and Drafting Specialist must be able to meet and maintain company guidelines by performing the following essential job functions:

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Program for the creation of part numbers, configuration revisions and releases.
  • Responsible for bill of material (BOM), router structure and creation for bellows product and associated tooling.
  • Collaborate with Operations on production sequence and document into ERP system router’s for current and new parts.
  • Estimate operational equipment selection (work centers), set-up and run times for Process Engineering review.
  • Monitor released change notices for drawings and notify departments where review and disposition is lagging.
  • Establish and maintain configuration monthly metrics.
  • Support Manufacturing and Quality personnel in resolving issues relative to job transaction resolution, materials, tooling and production processes.
  • Work from sketches, notes, verbal instruction or existing designs to prepare new drawings for bellows product, tooling to build bellows product, testing of bellows product or other drawing component or assembly needs.
  • Create detailed drawings from models with appropriate tolerances and geometric controls (linear/ angular dimensions, GD&T). Dimension parts with manufacturing and design intent. Apply tolerances and review stack-ups to ensure final product meets print requirements.
  • Define what materials tooling is to be made from and incorporate material type on the drawing for inclusion to Flexial ERP BOM.
  • Support Flexial quote process with the creation of top-level assembly prints of new bellows product in coordination with Design Engineering.
  • Store models in Flexial databases including FlexNet, CAD vault and quote folders. Create and populate ECN’s for the release of the drawings.
  • Assist Quality and MIS department in system development relating to production metric and data control
  • Support Flexial’s Continuous Improvement initiative.
    • Must be able to communicate, get along and work well with other employees.
    • Must comply with the rules and regulations mandated under the following quality and governmental standards: ISO 9000, AS 9100, ITAR and ISO 14001.
    • Establish and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with corporate policy and OSHA standards.
    • Being at work every day and coming to work on-time is required.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS (5%)

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES and / or EXPERIENCE

Mechanical or Industrial 2-year degree from a college, university or trade school. 3 years’ working experience in 3-D modeling, drafting and print tolerancing (Solidworks preferred and a plus). 5 years’ working experience in ERP product definition, maintenance and support.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical specifications, drawings, common business documents, and industry publications. Ability to respond effectively to inquiry or complaints from manufacturing personnel. Ability to write reports or procedures; and effectively present information to manager and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as tolerance stack-ups and general technical equations

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to work with principles of logical or scientific thinking to a limited range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its basic form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk; sit, talk, hear, stand use hands. Physical requirements are the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include ability to adjust focus, depth perception, peripheral, distance, color and close vision.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must possess basic personal computer skills including a working knowledge of 3-D CAD software (Solidworks), ERP software and general quality and configuration software systems.
