The Position

To perform or supervise all activities in relation to plumbing and steam fitting installation, distribution, maintenance and repair on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides for the maintenance, repair and adequacy of service and operations of campus ad building utility systems for: steam and condensate, refrigeration, air conditioning, air-handling, domestic water, gas, storm drainage and sewage (forced and gravity)
  • Accomplishes assigned and scheduled maintenance programs in accordance with established directives and procedures. Maintain, service, and repair hydraulic, air, gas, distilled water and steam lines and HVAC lines.
  • Renders services involved as a result of repair, alteration, modification, rehabilitation and minor new construction accomplished on campus buildings, fixtures and structures.
  • Assists the Manager of Physical Plant in the preparation of work estimates involving plumbing and steam fitting; shop for purchase materials necessary for his branch; provide the Manager of Physical Plant with requirements for materials and equipment not locally available; maintain and submit to his supervisor records of materials and time used on work orders.
  • Supports other trades as required.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions pertaining to building plumbing, steam, condensate or other plumbing systems and makes recommendations for proper repair.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Journeyman license
  • Five or more year’s commercial plumbing experience
  • Backflow certification preferred
  • Ability to work in a team
