Position Summary
Mesabi Metallics is seeking a Mechanical Planner - Concentrator. This role will oversee the planning and optimization of concentrator maintenance to maximize efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. You will work closely with various teams to develop strategic plans and ensure that production and maintenance targets are met while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Coordinator – Concentrator Maintenance, the Mechanical Planner - Concentrator will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive production and maintenance plans for the concentrator, ensuring alignment with overall operational goals and resource availability.
  • Create and maintain detailed schedules for concentrator operations, including equipment usage, personnel assignments, and maintenance activities.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, performance metrics, and opportunities for improvement; make data-driven recommendations to optimize processes.
  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operational teams to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to meet production targets.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on concentrator performance, production forecasts, and any deviations from plans to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of safety within the team.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity through process improvements and best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in planning or maintenance within a mining or mineral processing environment.
  • Proficient in planning and scheduling software and familiar with concentrator operations and processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in managing cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR technical degree with relevant work experience.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires some work in front of a PC, desk, and phone and regular field work.
  • Some lifting and strength required when working in mill.
Salary Range:
  • $110,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
