The Role
We are seeking an experienced Certified Ophthalmic Technician to join us as our dedicated Trainer & Mentor. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned technician who loves teaching, wants to shape the next generation of ophthalmic professionals, and is ready to make a real impact on patient care and clinic efficiency.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and lead structured 30-60-90 day onboarding programs for new technicians.
  • Provide hands-on training in patient workups, diagnostics, EMR documentation (ModMed), and surgical prep.
  • Standardize workflows to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with ophthalmic best practices.
  • Mentor and coach team members to advance their certification (COA → COT → COMT).
  • Partner with clinic leadership to identify skills gaps and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Ensure a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

What We’re Looking For

  • Current COT certification (COMT preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of ophthalmic technician experience in a fast-paced clinic or ASC.
  • Prior experience as a trainer, lead tech, or mentor strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic testing, refraction, IOL calculations, and surgical assisting.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and ability to inspire others.
  • EMR experience required (ModMed a plus).
