Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Warehouse Coordinator, this position supports warehouse operations and procurement-related functions in accordance with the City's Purchasing Policy. The employee is responsible for assisting with ordering, receiving, and maintaining stock inventory, as well as ensuring the accurate and timely distribution of warehouse materials and deliveries to City departments.
Key responsibilities include coordinating with vendors to place and track orders, verifying deliveries for accuracy, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels through cycle counts and the establishment of reorder points. The position requires strong communication skills to ensure timely delivery of goods and effective vendor relations.
The employee must safely operate heavy equipment, including; forklift certification is preferred. Must be able to pull a trailer for delivery purposes.
Additional duties include maintaining accurate records within computer-based inventory systems and demonstrating working knowledge of industrial water and sewer fittings. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation for a two-week period as assigned.
Professional conduct is essential, including maintaining a courteous, respectful, and service-oriented demeanor when interacting with City staff, vendors, and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum two years of experience in supplies, inventory control, computer warehouse operations, and maintenance of records and receipts.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license or higher required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of computerized inventory control software and other Microsoft Office software is a must.
  • Knowledge of fuel compliance records mandated by TNRCC.
  • Skill in communication in order to contact vendors to obtain pricing and place orders.
  • Ability to properly record and distribute inventory.
  • Ability to operate all general office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, visual acuity, and walking.
