Job description

Sapios is building the future of automated driver evaluation systems. Our flagship invention – the Automated Road Test System (ARTS) – transforms an iPhone into a robotic driving examiner using computer vision, AI, and robotics. With deployments and paid pilots already underway with the Department of Motor Vehicles across US and Sweden, QTPIE is on a mission to make road testing safer, fairer, and more data-driven.

Our technology also has exciting applications in insurance, healthcare, and robotics – and we’re just getting started.

Role: Computer Vision Engineer

Location: USA only.

We’re looking for a passionate Computer Vision Engineer to join our core engineering team. You’ll work on algorithms that power the ARTS platform: from object detection and scene understanding to sensor fusion and behavioral analysis. Your work will directly impact how millions of drivers are tested and evaluated globally.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and optimize computer vision pipelines (object detection, lane detection, sign recognition, behavior recognition).
  • Develop methods to fuse data from multiple sensors (video, IMU, GPS, LiDAR).
  • Contribute to real-time inference systems on mobile devices (iPhone + GPU acceleration).
  • Collaborate with AI researchers and robotics engineers to integrate vision into the ARTS platform.
  • Work with large-scale datasets of driving behavior and create scalable training/evaluation pipelines.
  • Publish and present work internally and externally (patents, research collaborations).

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in computer vision, deep learning, or robotics.
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or ONNX.
  • Experience with object detection/tracking (YOLO, DETR, etc.) and scene understanding.
  • Solid programming skills in Python (C++/Swift is a plus).
  • Experience with real-time systems or edge deployment (CoreML, TFLite, ONNX Runtime, NVIDIA GPUs).
  • A problem-solver mindset: comfortable working on ambiguous, high-impact projects.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience in autonomous driving, ADAS, or driver monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with sensor fusion (IMU, GPS, LiDAR + video).
  • Experience deploying ML pipelines to cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Contributions to open-source projects in CV/ML.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a once-in-a-generation innovation redefining road safety.
  • Work in a fast-growing startup with traction across the US and Europe.
  • Collaborate with a team of AI, robotics, and medical innovators.
  • Flexible hybrid/remote setup.
  • Competitive salary + equity options.

How to Apply

Send your CV, portfolio/GitHub, and a short note about why you’d like to join QTPIE to ravi@sapios.io.
