At WestLand Engineering and Environmental Services, a Trinity Consultants team, we are driven by purpose, innovation, and a shared commitment to the work that we do. As part of Trinity Consultants' Water and Ecology division, we tackle complex environmental challenges, blending expertise in environmental consulting, wetlands, cultural resources, GIS, landscape architecture, and engineering.

WestLand empowers our teams to develop their unique skills while fostering career growth within a company that is large enough to offer diverse opportunities yet agile enough to value individual contributions. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do-our professionals work together on meaningful and impactful projects, delivering solutions that help clients navigate regulatory complexities and see positive project outcomes. Make a difference with us at WestLand!

Our Engineering Department has an exciting opportunity for a Senior CAD Designer with our water/wastewater engineering team! The Senior CAD Designer develops and prepares civil, mechanical, and minor earthworks design and construction drawings associated with Water/Wastewater Engineering projects. This role involves designing, revising, and coordinating construction drawings to meet technical and project specifications. Senior CAD Designer should be able to create plans with significant autonomy using previous experience, verbal or written instructions, project files, and specifications in collaboration with the project engineer.

What will I be doing?

  • Design and prepare detailed water/wastewater drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Prepare quantities, assist with Bid Schedules, and revise drawings based on project updates.
  • Collaborate with drafters, project engineers, and project managers to update existing plans.
  • Conduct research to support design standards and project requirements.
  • Review files, plans, and specifications as requested.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants for plan development.
  • Create and assist with document submissions including plotting, printing, and binding.
  • Ensure all drawings meet customer requirements and WestLand CAD standards.
  • Document tracking and proper archiving of design plans and as-builts.
  • Perform other design, permitting, and construction observation tasks as needed.
  • Maintain professional documentation that is clear and visually appealing.
  • Redline plans and work with junior CAD staff members to optimize workflow, efficiency and promote career growth.

What qualifications are required for this role?

  • Associate degree or technical Computer Aided Drafting certification preferred (but not required).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Design experience required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of CAD experience is required.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Previous experience in water/wastewater design required.
  • Knowledge of local municipal water and sewer standards and requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 products (Teams, Word, Excel, Project, Outlook).
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and work independently.

The wage range for this position is $38.00 - $50.00 per hour (depending on education and experience).

What does WestLand offer you?

  • Comprehensive benefits package: 9 paid holidays, healthcare benefits, PTO, and 401k matching for full-time employees. Flexible work schedules and remote/hybrid possibilities for most roles.
  • Multidisciplinary environment: Unique, creative, and challenging projects where you can develop your vision of clientele and work with industry leaders daily.
  • Success-oriented environment: Two-way mentorship, financial incentives to publish work, tuition reimbursement, and a career-path structure to help you reach the next steps in your career.
