Key Responsibilities

  • Employ evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to aid in the healing process.
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, providing support as patients navigate their trauma experiences and develop adaptive coping strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated, comprehensive care for all patients.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, demonstrating the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding the complexities of trauma responses, effective coping mechanisms, and available support resources.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems for efficiency.
  • Engage actively in case consultations, team meetings, and continuous professional development related to trauma-informed care practices.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in trauma therapy to provide clients with informed care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This position emphasizes working with trauma survivors, encompassing adults and adolescents affected by severe psychological distress. The therapist will engage with clients facing a variety of mental health needs and will be instrumental in paving the way for healing through specialized therapeutic techniques tailored specifically for each individual’s experience.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the State of New York.
  • A strong foundation in trauma-related disorders, trauma-informed treatment modalities, and resilience-building interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, exhibiting a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to client care.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant computer applications.
  • A collaborative spirit, capable of working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience
  • At least 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience focused on trauma-informed care is highly preferred.
