Job description

The Seasonal Processing & Field Operations Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting both plant operations and field activities. This role provides exposure to crop monitoring, pest scouting, harvest coordination, and processing plant support. The intern will assist with data collection, documentation, and operational tasks while contributing to efficient seasonal workflow and production success.

Key Responsibilities

Field & Crop Monitoring

  • Conduct field scouting to monitor crop health and growth stages
  • Perform crop sampling and collect accurate field data
  • Complete stand counts and assist with plant population assessments
  • Collect and document moisture samples during harvest
  • Record observations and maintain organized, timely reports

Bug Crew / Pest Monitoring

  • Scout fields for insect presence and pest pressure
  • Identify and document insect populations and signs of crop damage
  • Collect insect samples for monitoring and reporting
  • Assist with tracking treatment thresholds and communicating findings
  • Support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) efforts
  • Follow all field safety and biosecurity protocols

Harvest & Plant Support

  • Assist with harvest communication and documentation
  • Support daily processing and plant operations as needed
  • Help maintain accurate production and field records
  • Assist with data entry and reporting
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support seasonal operations

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Willingness to work outdoors and in a processing plant setting
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred)
  • Ability to lift up to [insert weight] and work in varying weather conditions
