When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do โ€“ but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here โ€“ we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Caterpillarโ€™s Resource Industries division is seeking a Test and Validation Engineer to support the Testing and Development of Large Mining Equipment at our Tucson Proving Ground in Green Valley, AZ. Your focus will be on current and next generation mining machines including Hydraulic Shovels and Large Wheel Loaders to ensure products perform as intended and meet Caterpillarโ€™s high-quality standards and customer expectations. You wonโ€™t just test machinesโ€”youโ€™ll influence the future of sustainable mining.

What You Will Do:
  • Drive Safety & Quality: Make safety your top priority and champion continuous improvement in every aspect of machine testing. Review and create job procedures for system testing, installation, and maintenance.
  • Lead On-Machine Testing Projects: Plan and execute testing and development for current and next generation mining equipment.
  • Collaborate & Innovate: Work closely with on-site engineers, technicians, and operators to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Team Culture: Collaborate with passionate professionals in a supportive environment.
  • Handsโ€‘on, realโ€‘world work: This is not a deskโ€‘only role. Youโ€™ll be out in the field, working directly with machines, supporting test execution, and seeing technology perform in real operating environments.

If you enjoy combining leadership with handsโ€‘on engineering, this role delivers both.

What Skills You Will Have:
  • Technical Excellence: Experience in testing or validation within heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial machinery.
  • Product Testing: Experience designing and executing testing strategies. Experience with construction, forestry, mining or agricultural equipment is a plus.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to machine software and controls. Use tools such as CAT Electronic Technician, CANape, and Cadet for machine functionality.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Assess technical information, testing outcomes, and operational impacts to make sound engineering recommendations. Apply critical thinking to prioritize issues, develop solutions, and support successful project execution.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate technical findings, testing results, and recommendations clearly with engineers, technicians, operators, and crossโ€‘functional teams. Produce thorough documentation and collaborates effectively to ensure project objectives are met.
Education Requirement:
