Job description

Work Place Flexibility: Onsite

***This position will be filled as an IT Specialist I, II, Sr or IT Consultant depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience***
Position Purpose:
This position is within Entergy's nuclear Operational Information Technology (OIT) team at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. The OIT group oversees a wide range of process and security-related computer systems, including system diagnostics, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with nuclear cybersecurity regulations. The team also provides incident response support for any operational disruptions. OIT works closely with Operations, Security, Engineering, and Maintenance to implement system upgrades, manage cybersecurity risks, and resolve technical issues. In addition, the group supports Entergy Corporate IT initiatives, various IT projects, system selection and upgrades, cybersecurity programs, and the development of procedures and processes. Team members participate in a mandatory rotating duty schedule that includes 24 hour on-call coverage. OIT personnel must also maintain Emergency Response Organization (ERO) qualifications and be able to respond to the site in the required response time when on ERO duty.
Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility:
OT System(s) Support (Primary Role):
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of legacy and modern computer systems technologies and networks
  • Perform system health checks, backup and restoration of data, review of logs, updates, database maintenance etc.
  • Support software and hardware integration via interface development etc.
  • Perform software quality assurance tasks documenting software changes
  • Perform network maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, and upgrades
  • Review and approve engineering changes to plant digital systems
  • Propose and develop plans for system improvement and life cycle management including maintenance of spares and inventory, vulnerability analysis and reports, upgrade planning, etc.
  • Create reports and client-side tools to meet customer needs
  • Leverage the Corrective Action Program by documenting issues, analyzing root causes, and recommending solutions

Cyber Security Program ( Support Role):
  • Participate and maintain compliance with Cyber Security Program to meet 10CFR73.54 NRC Cyber Security Requirements
  • Prepare portable digital devices for connection to critical digital assets
  • Perform periodic duties to maintain cyber protective profile such as definition updates, system walk down, analysis of logs and alerts, password changes and access control
  • Perform cyber security assessments of new equipment and changes to existing equipment
  • Review and evaluate application of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposure (CVE)
  • Participate or lead in cyber incident response
  • Participate or lead in procedure development and modification

Other tasks as assigned:
  • Organize and facilitate IT Department vendor communications and meetings
  • Act as system administrator for fleet programs by managing accounts, databases, and advising co-workers and customers on system use. Examples: Software Quality Assurance program, Cyber Assessment Software tool.
  • Attend meetings for plant schedule, corrective action review, engineering review, cyber security reviews, and fleet programs
  • Represent the Site IT Manager (as directed) in site and Nuclear IT scheduled and emergent meetings
  • Serve on site call out rotation and Emergency Response team rotation

Minimum Educational Background and Physical Requirements Required to perform Job:
Minimum education required of the position:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
Minimum Experience Requirements:
(For the IT Specialist I - Oper Tech classification)
  • 0 to 2 years demonstrated track record of relevant technology delivery
  • Software programming knowledge and skills.
  • Skills in database design, management and programming
  • Skills in networking and familiar with network security best practices.
  • Familiarity with virtual servers

(For the IT Specialist II - Oper Tech classification)
  • 2+ years demonstrated track record of relevant technology delivery
  • Familiarity with Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Distributed Control System (DCS), or other real time systems
  • Software programming knowledge and skills.
  • Skills in database design, management and programming
  • Ability to evaluate project requirements and apply the appropriate solutions.
  • Skills in networking and familiar with network security best practices.
  • Familiarity with virtual servers

(For the IT Specialist Sr. - Oper Tech classification)
  • Meet the minimum requirement of an IT Specialist II
  • 4+ years demonstrated strong track record of relevant technology delivery (3 years with Master's degree in a related field)

(For the IT Consultant. - Oper Tech classification)
  • Meet the minimum requirement of an IT Specialist Sr
  • 6+ years demonstrated strong track record of relevant technology delivery (5 years with Master's degree in a related field)
  • Experience as system lead in control systems, programming real-time systems and advanced troubleshooting skillset.
  • Experience leading changes for enhancement of older systems with Life Cycle Management (LCM process).

Preferred Experience Requirements (for levels II, Sr., and Consultant):
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols
  • Strong Skills in C (C++, C#), Fortran, SQL, Java and CSS
  • Experience programming for and managing an environment with strict uptime requirements.
  • Strong skills in virtualization using VMWare ESXi and VMware vCenter
