What You Will Do:
We are seeking a Computer Systems Analyst to support chemical safety within NCATS chemistry labs. NCATS has the largest staff of medicinal chemists of any IC at NIH and thus has a significant inventory of chemicals that need to be maintained and tracked to ensure safety within its laboratories. The electronic chemical inventory system is the central critical component to this process, and the Computer Systems Analyst has the primary responsibility for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the chemical inventory system for proper uploading, tracking, and management of chemicals in the NCATS IRP. This is a full-time role based in Rockville, MD.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across research laboratories to assess needs and provide IT support for computerized systems that enable laboratory operations.
  • Install, configure, and support scientific enterprise applications on end-user workstations.
  • Maintain the ongoing operability of chemistry-related software applications through daily troubleshooting, monitoring, and routine maintenance.
  • Provide responsive technical support to end users, including issue resolution, troubleshooting, and user assistance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with software vendors to ensure licenses, upgrades, and patches are current and compatible with related software packages.
  • Support the ASPIRE program through the extraction, curation, and management of electronic notebook data.
  • Administer scientific software platforms including PerkinElmer Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), ChemBioOffice Enterprise (CBOE), CambridgeSoft ChemDraw, and Mestrelab Mnova Suite.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to evaluate, implement, and support software systems used by researchers.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to enhance laboratory operations and improve instrument data analysis capabilities.
  • Coordinate with IT support teams, Informatics, and software vendors to maintain applications and database servers, including patching, database migrations, and system upgrades.
  • Coordinate with IT support staff to resolve hardware and software issues affecting scientific applications.
  • Provide support and maintenance for both front-end and back-end servers that support laboratory systems.
  • Implement security measures to protect the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of systems and data.

What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of EIGHT (8) years of specialized experience in computer systems analysis, application support, or scientific IT environments.
  • Background supporting laboratories or research software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise scientific applications.
  • Strong capability in end-user support, including diagnosis and resolution of hardware and software issues.
  • Ability to collaborate with IT teams, informatics staff, internal stakeholders, and software vendors.
  • Knowledge of application and database server maintenance, including patches, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred

What Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Background supporting chemical inventory systems or laboratory informatics platforms.
  • Hands-on knowledge of tools such as: PerkinElmer Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), ChemBioOffice Enterprise (CBOE), CambridgeSoft ChemDraw, and/or Mestrelab Mnova Suite.
  • Familiarity with electronic notebook data extraction, curation, and management.
  • Working knowledge of chemistry-related software applications and scientific research workflows.
  • Ability to support initiatives that improve laboratory operations and instrument data analysis.
  • Knowledge of software license management, upgrades, patches, and compatibility validation.
  • Familiarity with NIH safety policies, government data protection requirements, and secure handling of sensitive information.

The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
