Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to drive the development and integration of complex defense and communications systems throughout the entire systems engineering lifecycle. This role will lead multidisciplinary engineering efforts from Concept of Operations (CONOPS) through system design, integration, verification, validation, and sustainment while serving as a technical leader across multiple programs.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), systems integration, test and validation, and defense communications technologies. This individual will collaborate closely with customers, subcontractors, executive leadership, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative, mission-critical solutions.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of full lifecycle systems engineering solutions from Concept of Operations (CONOPS) through system integration, validation, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Organize and oversee laboratory activities, including system setup, configuration management, integration, and testing.
  • Ensure system models, hardware, software, and interface architectures are developed using scalable Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and ontologies.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams consisting of systems, electrical, mechanical, software, test, logistics, and integration engineers.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute technical milestones, including design reviews, system integration events, dry runs, qualification testing, and customer demonstrations.
  • Develop and maintain technical schedules, cost estimates, and engineering deliverables while supporting overall program objectives.
  • Evaluate complex technical challenges, assess risks, and recommend effective engineering solutions to program leadership and customers.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to systems engineers and other engineering professionals at various stages of their careers.
  • Support system integration activities across hardware, software, networking, and communications platforms.
  • Participate in technical reviews, configuration management, change management, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with customers, subcontractors, program management, and executive leadership to ensure successful program execution.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience leading programs across the complete Systems Engineering "V" lifecycle, from CONOPS development through validation and sustainment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, including Cameo, IBM Rational Rhapsody, or comparable modeling platforms.
  • Experience using collaboration and project management tools such as Jira, IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), or similar platforms.
