Job Title : Senior Systems Engineer - Linux
Duties: Parexel International LLC seeks a Senior Systems Engineer - Linux based in Newton, MA to design, develop, and maintain advanced computer systems. Deliver infrastructure solutions to host mission-critical applications on-premises and in the cloud. Conduct the technical oversight, operation, and maintenance of server systems and infrastructure. Work with physical (SPARC and x86) and virtual servers in on-premises and cloud-based environments, including technical oversight, operation, and maintenance. Define and maintain software technical standards, especially those related to installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and network infrastructure. Linux systems engineering with RedHat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, and Solaris. Utilizing Linux-based IT infrastructure including Oracle SPARC systems, ZFS storage solutions, and security vulnerabilities remediation on Linux and Solaris servers. Conduct research on industry trends, emerging technologies, software, systems and networks to support future technology decisions. Responsible for RedHat Satellite and Oracle Linux Manager, including defining and maintaining software technical standards for installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and network infrastructure. Plan disaster recovery solutions and conduct disaster recovery tests for business-critical applications. Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to technical teams. Position may telecommute from anywhere in the US up to 5 days per week. The position may travel to various and unanticipated company worksites 1-2 times per year. (Ref. # 000971). Annual salary: $129,147 to $166,300.
Requirements: 12 progressive years of systems engineering experience, including: (1) systems engineering in Linux/Unix operating systems (RedHat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Solaris) and utilizing Linux/Unix-based IT infrastructure (Oracle SPARC systems, ZFS storage solutions, and security vulnerabilities remediation on Linux and Solaris servers); (2) Scripting and automation technologies including Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, or GitHub; (3) Responsibility for RedHat Satellite and Oracle Linux Manager, including defining and maintaining software technical standards for installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and infrastructure; (4) Physical SPARC and x86, and virtual servers in on-premises and cloud-based environments, including technical oversight, operation, and maintenance; (5) Overseeing enterprise-scale data platforms with SAS Grid or SAP; and (6) Planning disaster recovery solutions and conducting disaster recovery tests for business-critical applications.
