Systems Engineer/Architect Job Description:
We are seeking a Systems Engineer/Architect to join our Integrated Submarine Imaging Systems Program Team. The Imaging System is one subsystem supporting multiple operational classes of the United States submarine force. The Imaging subsystem provides mission critical, all-weather, visual, and electronic search data and digital imagery. As one of our Systems Engineers, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team employing a systems engineering approach to requirements definition, system architecture and interface definitions, supporting solution implementation, and establishing Verification and Validation approaches for new and updated software and hardware baselines. This role involves analyzing system requirements, inter-system requirements, emerging technologies and tools, and new hardware products to guide software solutions. The ideal candidate for this position will have equal parts technical competence, forward-thinking ideas, and a focus on execution.
Systems Engineer/Architect Required Tasks:
Candidates should have a strong background in requirements development/management, and experience in analyzing and establishing architectural inputs for system software. As a Systems Engineer you can expect to perform the following:
Support cross-discipline product and project teams identifying, evaluating, and establishing technical solutions.
Support AGILE process-based development including architecture and engineering spikes to evaluate and provide technical solutions.
System modelling using industry standard tools (Cameo)
Develop and maintain systems engineering-related documentation including:
o Requirements document
o System and subsystem design documents
o Interface design documents
o Software design documents
o Interpret/Derive/Translate customer requirements into next system Software and Hardware designs.
o Prepare for and conduct milestone reviews including Intermediate Design Reviews to Final Design Reviews
o Support high-level system analyses for future modernization efforts
Systems Engineer/Architect Basic Requirements:
Experience as a systems engineer/architect
Prior experience with Systems Engineering for products or solutions containing custom software
Prior experience performing trade studies and technology selections
Knowledge of systems engineering processes and best practices
Systems Engineer/Architect Desired Requirements:
Experience as a systems engineer/architect on undersea systems development programs.
Prior experience with Agile teams and usage of tools such as JIRA/Gitlab/Redmine, and Confluence.
Prior experience with Matlab or other scientific analysis tools.
Prior experience with Python or scripting languages
Familiarity with software DevOps pipelines and software development processes
Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering a plus.
Systems Engineer/Architect Additional Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline, and 5 years of directly related experience; or a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience.
Skills in analysis, critical thinking, and technical problem solving.
Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask, shift priorities, and be willing to adapt or improve.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Job: Full-Time Employee, 40 hours/week
