Job Summary

Investigate, analyze and resolve application issues with direction from senior staff. May perform field investigations of application issues and interface with field users and management. May participate in application training or develop training materials. Perform data analysis and assist in the development of reports under the direction of senior staff. May perform application administrative functions. Assist support staff in investigating root cause, resolving application issues and engaging IT as necessary. Assist senior staff to define and build business processes and the functional requirements for associated applications. Provide assistance and guidance to employees across the corporation in the proper use of applications. Participate in application testing and user training under the direction of senior staff.

What You'll Do:

  • Learn and apply, with supervision, AEP's internal IT system development and support processes for delivering and tracking system enhancements and maintenance activities

  • Support the work needed to resolve outstanding system issues by applying knowledge of application functionality and associated business processes; provide input to change requests and to ensure the completeness of enhancement requirements and process considerations

  • Work with other Functional System Analysts (FSAs) and Architects to make sure IT Work Requests and Business Cases are completed and submitted in a timely manner to Business System Analysts (BSAs)

  • Collaborate with BSAs in the IT Work Request development process to define as early as possible what involvement will be needed from IT and help facilitate the development of the High Level Estimates (HLEs) in parallel with the IT Work Request

  • Help ensure HLEs are obtained in a timely manner and complete appropriate approval routing of proposals

  • Obtain clarification, when needed, from the Business Unit (BU) to ensure the quality of requirements; partner with FSAs/BSAs to ensure leadership is provided to facilitate the gathering of requirements and ensure BU stakeholders are represented

  • Assist with design and development of functional specifications and user interfaces for application enhancements.

  • Develop business processes to be used in applications and develop functional specifications with assistance from senior staff.

  • Prioritize work and provide some functional direction to IT applications staff.

  • Prepare business case documentation with assistance from senior staff.

  • Participate in the development and coordination of User Acceptance Testing and application release process.

  • Assist other Architects in providing required user training plans and materials.

  • Assist support staff in investigating and resolving application issues.

  • Work with business unit employees to define, analyze, design, and document business processes and associated applications.

  • Provide assistance and guidance to employees across the corporation in the proper use of applications.

  • Provide all levels of administrative support including configuration, technical product support, user guidance, installation, system monitoring, test planning, testing, problem diagnosis, issue tracking, issue resolution, and routine maintenance as necessary.
