Job Description
Are you an experienced Systems Administrator, ready for a unique opportunity to grow with an environmental state agency?

YOUR FUTURE TEAM
As part of TCEQ Administrative Services, you would help support the logistical and operational structure for TCEQ statewide the business foundation for the whole agency. See details about what we do .
This position is a member of our Information Resources Division.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate desktop provisioning implementations and upgrades. Work with vendors and customers to ensure smooth transitions to upgraded systems. Prepare architecture diagrams and descriptions that represent current and proposed systems, including costs and benefits.
  • Lead and/or coordinate the administration of desktop environments and provisioning tools to ensure systems meet the business needs of the agency.
  • Monitor and respond to customer issues and analyze problems to troubleshoot and resolve customer service issues and performance improvement.
  • Act as a mentor for junior analysts and a technical resource for other analysts.
  • Assist with software security planning and implementation.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience installing, provisioning, and updating desktop software in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with configuring or administering Windows desktop installations and imaging tools.
  • Experience in providing technicalbased customer service.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in an information technologies or related field from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of fulltime experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
OR
Completion of 15 semester hours in information technologies from an accredited college, plus five (5) years of fulltime experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
OR
Six (6) years of fulltime experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
All the above experience options must have included successful completion of two (2) years as a fulltime UNIX, LINUX, Novell, or Windows Server Systems Administrator in a multiplatform environment.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.
