Job description

Velonex Technologies is looking for a skilled Service Desk Technician for our Austin, TX clients. In this exciting and challenging role, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, software, applications, networking, and cloud technology (primarily Office 365 and other Office Products). Respond to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolate problems, and determine and implement solutions. You will also perform installation and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established guidelines and may also assist in the maintenance and testing of network servers, and associated equipment, as well as other duties as assigned. Candidates must currently reside within 30 mins of Austin, TX. Although this position is remote, you will need to be local as it will require on-site travel to support our clients in the Austin area as needed. Travel mileage is reimbursed.

Summary of duties and responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

1. Responsible for supporting end-users onsite for our corporate users.

2. Manage client's IT infrastructure including Servers, Workstations, and mobile devices. Adheres to and implements security policies, user on-boarding and off-boarding.

3. Identify, research, and resolve Level I support tickets using User Support tools and processes.

4. Escalate issues, when necessary, within departmental guidelines and processes for resolution.

5. Maintain and support client operating systems and end-user software using remote administration tools.

6. Maintain, update, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer, network, and printing systems/hardware.

7. Able to create and maintain procedures, documentation, and reports. Detailed records are vital.

8. Willing to work after hours when needed.

9. The candidate should have experience in IT support, must be able to work well under pressure, independently, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications):

· 2+ years of experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft desktop and server systems, Active Directory, and Azure.

· 2+ years of Networking - TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Routing, VPN, Wireless networks, and Firewalls (Ubiquity, FortiGate).

· Knowledge of Storage arrays, backup and replication solutions, monitoring systems.

· Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues quickly and effectively.

· Experience in troubleshooting technical issues at a higher level.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

· Certifications or experience with products from VMware, FortiGate, Microsoft, and Cisco.

· Experience with TrendMicro, Dell Server, and storage, Symantec backup exec and enterprise vault, Veeam, CrashPlan, Google Apps, and Apple products.

· Knowledge working for an MSP with remote monitoring and management tools.

· Experience in the design and implementation of IT solutions to fit the client needs.

· Familiar with setting up VMware Virtual infrastructure. Hyper-V an advantage.

Physical Requirements:

· Stand/sit/walk for extended periods of time.

· Ability to lift/push/pull 40 lbs.
