A CAREER AS A MALIN PROJECT DESIGN ENGINEER...
Malin's Project Design Engineers are visionaries. They take challenges and turn them into solutions using their inventiveness, imagination, and analytic and complex thinking. Malin is looking for a Project Design Engineer that will be responsible for design aspects of supply chain, distribution and warehousing systems -- conveyors, sortation and carousels; racking, shelving, mezzanines; picking systems, and incorporation of supporting software. Malin Systems is guided by our principles of performance, value-creation and customer satisfaction. Our Systems Design Engineers work closely with the sales team and CAD team to oversee the design, costing, scheduling and implementation of the systems while maintaining Malin's reputation, integrity and customer-first approach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and maintain systems design concepts based on customer requirements, direct the development of detailed CAD drawings to support the sales process and help obtain customer approval to begin a project.
Working knowledge of a conveyor control system including Human Machine Interface, original equipment and programmable logic controls.
Identify vendors, based on quality of product and costs and provides extensive guidance during the detailed design process.
Attend conferences, meetings, vendor seminars and training to stay current in the material handling equipment technologies industry and evaluate whether or not new concepts are applicable to Malin's customers.
Recommend and develop key strategic relationships with suppliers and integrators of material handling systems, equipment and controls software.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Make periodic site visits to review project progress and report to management as necessary.
Participation in system commissioning and project acceptance.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Work within a teamwork oriented and collaborative environment.
Ensure quality standards maintained across all areas of responsibility.
Demonstrate high attention to detail, solid organization, project management and planning skills.
Define initiatives to improve quality and/or productivity such as new engineering methodologies within the team.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree
Five or more years of experience in automation, conveyor systems or industrial engineering
Knowledge of AutoCAD
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field of study
Five or more years of direct experience in warehouse layout, design, industrial automation and controls, including conveyor systems and material handling equipment
Design experience with a systems integrator or conveyor manufacturer preferred
Proficient in AutoCad, Microsoft Office and project management software

Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Excellent time-management and phone skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Stable and successful career background
Willingness to travel nationwide and internally up to 25%
