How you'll make an Impact
As the Systems Engineer (SE) you will primarily focus on project planning and design, implementation, documenting, and supporting a wide variety of client IT projects and initiatives. Strong customer relations and follow-up to ensure that service has been completed to customer's satisfaction are a must. You'll need to be a team player, yet work well independently, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities include working with Project Managers (PMs) and Senior System Engineers (SSE's) to Implement and Deploy solutions for IT projects as well as provide network administration for client support needs when necessary.
Location and Work Expectations
  • Hybrid Position - Approximately 70% remote, onsite work will be performed at client offices located throughout the Chicagoland area. The specific allocation of remote versus onsite requirements fluctuates based on project types or specific demands.
  • Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm CST, scheduled afterhours/weekend work as needed.

What you will be doing
  • Deploy advanced technical solutions, including but not limited to new deployments and service modifications
  • Maintain minimum billable utilization of 80%
  • Provide excellent support to customers remotely or onsite as needed
  • Execute complex migrations and configurations
  • Documenting migration and infrastructure changes and preparing for stead state support post implementation
  • Communicate clearly both internally and externally to the progress, issues, and scope changes needed on projects
  • Able to pivot and provide solutions when plans change or do not meet the requirements of the project
  • Provide input and recommendations to the team to assist with project creation and planning
  • Design and build GPOs to enforce policies across organizations
  • Install and configure virtual machines and hosts
  • Build cloud and on-premises physical servers
  • Configure AAD and Microsoft Entra Connect to O365
  • Troubleshooting of advanced applications and servers
  • Build and design networks, including network and firewall configurations, switch configurations and Wireless networks
  • Build and design Active Directory infrastructure following best practices and taking into consideration client needs (on-premises Active Directory as well as Azure AD)
  • Deploy high-availability infrastructure (networking, virtualization, clustering)
  • Deploy backup and recovery technologies

You'll be successful in this role if you have
  • At least 3 to 7 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Intermediate knowledge of Intune and Autopilot
  • Expertise in Windows configurations and services
  • Advanced knowledge of DNS (internal and external)
  • Advanced knowledge of networking, both physical and virtual
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, or OCI)
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization, clustering, and high availability
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory (Both on-premises and Azure AD)
  • Advanced knowledge of M365 licensing, configuration, best practices, and feature set
  • This role involves extended periods of sitting or standing and regular use of computers and office equipment

Required language skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally, in English, both written and orally
  • Ability to write business correspondence and process procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public

Bonus points for
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable
  • Certifications including Microsoft Role Based Certifications, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, ITIL, etc.
  • Experience with ConnectWise (Manage, Automate, Control), SCCM, or similar service management system
  • Subject matter expert for specific technologies (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, Cisco, etc.)
  • MSP Experience

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds rarely
  • Must be able to perform occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, and turning.
  • Must be able to perform occasional reaching over shoulder height, waist level and from floor.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $85,000.00 and $105,000.00 per year. The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, and PTO. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
