Computer Support Specialist
Location: Albany, NY
Contract Length: 2 Years
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Computer Support Specialist to join our team in Albany, NY on a 2-year contract. This position provides technical support to end users by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting computer hardware, software, and network systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide first- and second-level technical support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems, software applications, and hardware.
• Respond to user support requests via phone, email, and ticketing systems while maintaining timely resolution of issues.
• Diagnose hardware, software, network, and connectivity problems and implement effective solutions.
• Set up and deploy new computer equipment, user accounts, and software applications.
• Perform routine maintenance, software updates, security patches, and system upgrades.
• Document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the organization's ticketing system.
• Assist with user account management, password resets, and access permissions.
• Support network connectivity, printers, scanners, and audiovisual equipment as needed.
• Maintain inventory of computer equipment and technology assets.
• Collaborate with IT staff to support infrastructure projects, system implementations, and technology upgrades.
• Follow established IT security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect organizational data.
• Provide excellent customer service while communicating technical information clearly to users with varying levels of technical experience.
Qualifications
• Associate's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
• Two or more years of experience providing desktop or technical support in a professional environment.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of computer hardware, software installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, printers, wireless connectivity, and VPN access.
• Experience using help desk or IT ticketing systems is preferred.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently as well as part of a team.
• Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and user account administration.
• Familiarity with remote support tools and endpoint management solutions.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
• Relevant technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
