Job Description:

Civil CAD Designer - Road & Highway - Atlanta, Georgia

Opportunity:

Parsons is now hiring a Designer/Drafter for our rapidly expanding transportation project portfolio to work on design of road and highway projects in our Atlanta - Sandy Springs, Georgia office. This position can be hired at a more experienced level as well.

In this role you will perform basic to moderately-difficult design/drafting assignments requiring a working knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques.Our Designers understand the materials and methods normally used within the assigned discipline. This is a full-time role with excellent benefits. Also, this is an office-based role at our Sandy Springs, GA office.


Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes MicroStation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, cut sheets, details, etc., according to established standards and procedures.
  • Ensures drawings comply with GDOT EDG and PPG and other drafting standards.
  • Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Understands how to read orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and construction drawings for road, highway and bridge projects.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • Develops roadway and highway design plans, including horizontal/vertical alignments, drainage and pavement marking.
  • Assists in preparing design submittals to clients like GDOT.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred
  • 2 years or more of relevant experience with civil and road/highway design projects
  • PC literacy, working knowledge of MicroStation. Working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments. Working knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Georgia DOT Plan Presentation Guidelines and Electronic Data Guidelines is preferred.
