Job Description:

The Department of Computer Science, Cybersecurity and Software Development is seeking an Adjunct Professor to teach an undergraduate course in web and mobile software development. A description of the course CSC 441: Web & Mobile Secure Software Development, is provided below. While previous course materials will be provided, the instructor is expected to adapt the materials to match their teaching style and expertise.

The ideal candidate has industry experience and is knowledgeable about best practices for software development. We seek someone who is passionate about inspiring and preparing students for successful entry into careers in software engineering.

The department is looking to find an instructor who is available to teach the course annually, either in the Fall or Spring semester.

Course Description

CSC441. Web & Mobile Secure Software Development. 4 Credit Hours.

This course introduces secured software development in two environments - web and mobile -with an emphasis on design, construction, and testing. Also covered are human-computer interaction, agile software development process, principles of secure design, defensive programming, threats and attacks, and secure software engineering. Students will design and develop a client-side web or mobile application with an accompanying server-side component to illustrate client-server communication.

Prerequisite:CSC276-Object Oriented Programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Update course materials while aligning to course objectives and student learning outcomes

  • Deliver course instruction in an engaging and effective manner

  • Provide timely feedback on assignments, projects and exams

  • Submit midterm and final grades

  • Hold regular office hours to support students outside the classroom

  • Communicate with faculty and administration regarding course progress

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • Industry experience in software development and preferably in web and mobile development

  • Knowledge of industry best practices

  • Passion for inspiring students to pursue careers in software development
