Job description

Job Summary:
Sargento is a family-owned company that has been a leader in cheese for over 70 years. The Sr Hosting Infrastructure Administrator will own the reliability and performance of Linux platforms, partner with various teams to maintain critical systems, and lead disaster recovery solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Own the reliability, performance, and evolution of Linux platforms across physical, virtual, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Partner closely with manufacturing, automation, SAP, and application teams to keep mission critical systems available, resilient, and recoverable.
• Provide OS level leadership for SAP on Linux, including performance tuning, patch coordination, and controlled system restarts.
• Influence infrastructure design decisions to improve scalability, reliability, and operational resilience.
• Lead administration of enterprise storage platforms and coordinate firmware, OS, and compatibility upgrades.
• Own backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Plan and execute disaster recovery testing to validate recoverability and business readiness.
• Design and maintain automation scripts and configuration assets using version controlled repositories.
• Automate provisioning, validation, configuration, and operational workflows.
• Expand monitoring and alerting to proactively detect issues and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Apply Linux security best practices, including patching, hardening, access controls, encryption, and zero trust principles.
• Support data center operations such as power, cooling, racking, cabling, and hardware lifecycle management.
• Lead planned and unplanned maintenance while minimizing impact to business and manufacturing operations.
• Serve as 3rd level escalation for complex Linux, cloud, storage, and automation incidents.
• Lead incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Mentor junior and mid level administrators through technical guidance and best practice sharing.
• Lead or contribute to medium and large scale infrastructure initiatives, including plant expansions.
• Research emerging technologies to strengthen reliability, security, and automation.
• Develop technical standards, documentation, and operating procedures.
• Help define and track KPIs/KRIs that drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in a shared on call rotation.
• Provide occasional night and weekend support in a 24×7 environment, including manufacturing systems.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of hosting or infrastructure experience with strong Linux production support.
• Hands on AWS and/or Azure experience.
• Experience supporting backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred:
• Manufacturing or plant floor Linux experience.
• SAP on Linux experience.
• Cloud certification (AWS or Azure Associate or equivalent).
• Mid level Linux certification.
