LTS - Computer Science/STEAM
HIGH SCHOOL
 

Ephrata Area School District, 803 Oak Blvd., Ephrata, PA, is recruiting for the position of a LTS Computer Science/Steam Teacher.  The Teacher promotes and develops successful learning for students, performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District Policies and terms of the teacher contract. The Teacher also maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students. The Computer Science/STEAM teacher will support instruction on a wide range of computing, coding, technology, science, and math topics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Includes but is not limited to:
 

  • Create a learning environment in which each student is expected to learn at elevated levels, each student is supported so he or she can learn at elevated levels, and each student demonstrates learning at elevated levels.
  • Promote elevated levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities; raise the bar of expectations for students at all ability levels.
  • Develop and implement higher level thinking activities using the new Bloom's Taxonomy
  • Build familiarity and use of PDE's Standards Aligned System (SAS) for keeping current with standards, anchors, Essential Questions, Concepts/Skills, Competencies/Objectives, interventions, etc. related to teaching subject matter.
  • Develop and implement challenging assessments while providing scaffolds for students who exhibit the need for support.
  • Utilize current and relevant subject matter, including authentic materials and documents
  • Work collaboratively with fellow department members to develop and modify common curriculum, including pacing guides, instructional resources, and lesson plans.
  • Utilize technology to make subject matter relevant and enhance learning outcomes.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENT

Education:                      Bachelor's Degree
Certification:                   Holds appropriate certification from the Department of Education in on of the following:   Computer Science 7-12, Mathematics 7-12, Business Computer and Information Technology 7-12, Physics,                                       or Technology Education K-12                                        
Experience:                    Any work experience in certification area(s); Student teaching experience in a supervised education program at an accredited institution
Language Skills:              Ability to evaluate, interpret and analyze.  Should have strong written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to write reports, and effectively present information to parents and administrators.
Mathematical Skills:        Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to work with mathematical concepts, math reasoning, and math logic.
Reasoning Skills:            Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Other Skills & Abilities:    Exhibit sound judgment; Ability to develop appropriate effective working relationships with department colleagues, school staff, students, parents, and the administration; demonstrate effective organizational and                                              time-management skills

  • Must demonstrate regular and punctual attendance. Must interact positively with administration, students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior & speech and dress in a neat, clean, and professional manner.
  • Must follow all District policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.
  • Must maintain the integrity of confidential information within the Business Office.
  • Follow established protocols as outlined in Student/Faculty/Support Staff handbook

Other Requirements:    Applicants must also possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months: Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance. The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.
