Job Description:
The Department of Computer Science of Bowie State University invites applications for a full-time, Lecturer position, starting Fall 2026. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative individual with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, and service. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and growing department and is expected to contribute to the undergraduate program.
Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: Assist in the education mission of the department, teach undergraduate level courses in computer science, and advise and mentor students.
  • Service: The candidate is expected to provide academic service as requested by the Chair of the Department.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in Computer Science or a closely related field by the time of appointment, or a Masters degree with an exceptionally strong teaching record.
  • A commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Anticipated completion of a doctoral degree. no later than June 2026 is acceptable.
  • Evidence of effective teaching and mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants with expertise in teaching introductory and low level courses, including the following, are sought:
  • Computer Science I
  • Computer Science II
  • Computer Organization & Architecture
  • Discrete Structures
