Experienced Technical CAD/Revit Specialist (Architectural)

Boston, Massachusetts OR Chicago, Illinois

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world's top-recognized brands and companies, is actively seeking an Experienced Technical Architectural CAD/Revit Specialist to join our Building Science Solutions team in Boston, Massachusetts OR Chicago, Illinois. Intertek's Building and Construction division is a suite of Intertek brands that are industry leaders across multiple architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines, developing the most innovative product and project solutions. Intertek's project-related assurance, testing, inspection and consulting services are the risk management and quality assurance partner you need to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of your new developments, existing assets, and facilities. 

Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects. 

What are we looking for?

The experienced technical draftsperson will support multiple building science groups with technical design projects of varying sizes, types, and complexity, with a focus on existing building restoration and rehabilitation projects. As a valuable member of our team, you will be supporting building science project managers and engineers in the building sciences divisions across the country. There is a high potential for learning and growth within both this position and the company, including opportunities to visit project sites and engage in field testing.

This position requires you to provide a minimum of three project examples of technical CAD or Revit work for consideration in addition to your application. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM (minimum of 40 hours per week)

Salary & Benefits Information:

The base wage for this position is $26 - $40 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you'll do:

  • Provide guidance and assist in the creation of company-wide drafting standards
  • Build and manage a building sciences technical details library
  • Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD/Revit
  • Create and modify layouts and technical building enclosure details from contract documents
  • Provide additional design and drafting support as needed
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Work from concepts, ideas, and rough sketches while adhering to drafting standards
  • Work closely with Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) Project Engineers, Project Managers, and/or Project Designers

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years' experience in AutoCAD/Revit drafting/design with a minimum of 5 years of experience in technical drafting
    • Preferability in the architectural or engineering fields 
    • Experience with envelope restoration/rehabilitation and new construction detailing is a plus
  • Experience and familiarity with AIA drafting guidelines
  • Certified Drafting Technician (CDT) designation is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit software, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Working knowledge of Revu Bluebeam
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to assume numerous responsibilities
  • Excellent proficiency in shop drawing production 
  • Experience with managing, training, and mentoring staff is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills including interpersonal, listening, oral, and written
  • Strong knowledge of standard drafting practices and procedures
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and efficiently schedule/manage time and deliverables

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Certified Drafting Technician (CDT) designation
  • Experience in commercial applications of fenestration products
