July 23, 2026OpportunityDo you have passion for the financial markets, the desire to work closely in support of client investment goals, and the ability to think outside the box? We are seeking a talented Student to join the Economics & Investment Research function who can deliver best-in-class applied quantitative economic and investment research and corresponding tools. This team builds a house view on the economic outlook, provides country macroeconomic research and currency views to the investment teams alongside macroeconomic scenario analysis for client asset allocation and total portfolio risk. It is also responsible for the research needs for AIMCO's Investment Strategy and Investment teams on top-down strategic and tactical research initiatives across client portfolios and asset classes.
Note: This is a full-time, 4-month term starting in September 2026 through December 2026.

  • Conduct research based on macroeconomic and financial data analysis in support of client advice and portfolio management

  • Assisting in gathering data and statistical modelling of investment research projects

  • Working collaboratively with departments such as Multi-Asset Portfolio Management, Risk Management, Client Investment Strategy and various investment teams to provide effective debate to findings and to explore creative solutions to unique portfolio management challenges

  • Preparing written materials and presentations for the effective delivery and communication of investment research to clients, investment teams and to provide education and transparency into the Economics & Investment Research function

  • Participate in the team's focus on building LLM-based prompting strategies, pipelines and agentic workflows

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science or related)

  • Experience with software programming language (R or Python) and proficiency with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required

  • Experience with building LLM-based processes and infrastructure is an asset

  • Knowledge of statistical/econometrics, machine learning and optimization methods is an asset

  • Exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Effective analytical, organization, time management and communication skills

  • Investment management or finance exposure would be considered an asset

  • Demonstrates a commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

Success Measures:

You will have taken a hands-on, key support role in providing macro and investment research insights to key stakeholders across our clients and the organization. You will have also developed a deep understanding of AIMCo's client structure and client investment strategies and build collaborative relationships through cross-functional teams.
