Position Summary

Seed IP Law Group is seeking a patent agent or attorney with a computer science background with three to five years of patent drafting and prosecution experience in a law firm, in-house, or with a university tech transfer department. The ideal candidate will hold an undergraduate or advanced degree in computer science and have experience with software, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Responsibilities
  • Prepareand prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in computer science–related technologies, including software, AI/ML, data processing, networking, and related fields.
  • Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and landscape analyses to support client counseling and strategic IP decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, inventors, and in-house teams to understand technical innovations and align patent strategy with business objectives.
  • Respond to office actions, manage ongoing prosecution matters, and maintain a well-organized docket.
  • Work closely with other attorneys, patent agents, and staff to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality work product, and consistent client service.
  • Support the development and protection of client IP portfolios through clearcommunication, sound judgment, and practical recommendations.
Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong academic credentials
  • USPTO registration required
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $240,000, depending on agent or associate position and experience, with eligibility for a performance-based bonus.
