The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem - Part Time Research Assistant 1 in the Public Health Sciences Department. This position is located in the Health District.

SUMMARY

The Research Assistant 1 (A) contributes to research investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. The Research Assistant 1 (A) performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Sets up and operates various scientific apparatus and makes minor repairs.

  • Prepares correspondence and answers phones.

  • Formulates and maintains bibliographies and completes applications and forms.

  • Orders laboratory supplies and maintains culture media reagents.

  • Reviews and edits various materials for publication and prepares publication schedules.

  • Maintains appropriate logs, records, and study notebooks.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Undergraduate Degree related to Public Health preferable.

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions

  • Organizes and maintains a system for monitoring of subjects enrolled on longitudinal studies and assures collection of data in a timely manner.

  • Prepares and organizes data to promote efficient computer entry. Demonstrates knowledge of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, IRB review, reporting requirements and regulatory affairs.

  • Oversees schedule and follows-up on progress in patient's chart and performs retrospective chart reviews.

  • Participates in the consent process as guided by institutional policy and assists with the development of the consent forms.

  • Communicates with internal and/or external regulatory oversight entities (e.g. IRB, NIH).

  • Participates in the development of protocol roadmaps or flow sheets and may participate in the completion of reports and forms.

  • Strong bilingual (English and Spanish) reading, writing and oral communication skills preferable.
