Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, or tenured faculty position in the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE). We are seeking applicants for the rank of Associate or Full Professor, rank or Assistant may be considered for applicants with early career success in relevant research and teaching experience. We seek applicants with expertise in AI models, systems, and applications. Ideal candidates will have experience applying AI models and systems to specific domains, such as manufacturing, human and healthcare systems, public health, energy, transportation, and supply chain and logistics.
This position is in Jacksonville and will support the CISE operations on the Jacksonville campus of the University of Florida. While the main UF campus is in Gainesville FL, the UF Jacksonville campus is ~2 hours away. The UF Jacksonville campus is a new expansion of the UF main campus opening Fall 2026, with immense potential and opportunities to expand existing education and research programs, establish innovative culture and foster industry relationships. This position will also engage prospective and current students in recruiting, orientation, graduation, networking, and other events and represent the CISE department in various functions in the Jacksonville area community. The position has an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop a high-quality publication record at UF, supervise Ph.D. students, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in CISE, and contribute to the Department's service activities. A strong motivation for developing an externally funded research program is essential. Applicants at the Associate Professor level must demonstrate strong records of scholarship, external funding, and service.
The Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering at the University of Florida has over 50 faculty members, and provides an integrated computer science and engineering education that addresses a wide spectrum of computing areas, including: AI/machine learning, algorithms, bioinformatics, computational complexity, compilers, computer architecture, computer networks, cybersecurity, databases, human-centered computing, operating systems, programming languages, software engineering. CISE has a student population of approximately 4,400, with nearly 160 in the Ph.D. program. Based on historical trends and current forecasts, significant and continued growth is expected.
