Position Responsibilities
Position Summary
The University of Idaho Extension, Southern District seeks a 12-month Personal Finance Extension Educator at the tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenure-track/tenured Associate Professor rank. The Educator will plan, deliver, and evaluate programs that strengthen individual, family, and community economic well-being in Ada County. Approximately 90% of the role focuses on personal financial management, including youth financial literacy, budgeting, financial decision-making, and long-term financial security. The remaining 10% supports 4-H Youth Development programs that emphasize life skills, leadership, and career readiness. The Educator will collaborate with faculty, build community partnerships, pursue funding opportunities, and contribute to applied scholarship and statewide Extension initiatives.
Rank and tenure is negotiable based on how the candidate meets the requirements of college bylaws as well as qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in finance, education, family and consumer sciences, or a closely related discipline
- Experience recruiting, teaching, organizing, and managing groups.
- Experience developing and delivering educational programs, workshops, and seminars for a range of audiences, including youth, adults, and retirees.
- Experience in financial education, financial counseling, or program development.
- Experience creating and adapting educational materials to meet audience needs.
- Experience using computer technology, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom or Microsoft Teams), and data analysis software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in Extension.
- Experience disseminating program results through scholarly outlets (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations).
- Professional certifications such as Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®), Certified Financial Educator (CFEd®), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).
- Experience with grant writing and grant management.
- Experience building community partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to move, carry, or lift materials (up to 50 lbs.) for workshops.
- Valid driver's license as travel to different sites within a county or region is required.
