Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Science Consultant, focused on the delivery of advanced analytics to identify resiliency risks, gaps, and performance insights across resiliency programs. This individual will translate complex data into clear, actionable insights to inform senior leadership decisions and strategy. They will also build models and run analyses to improve resiliency outcomes (e.g., risk identification, scenario impacts, service stability). The successful candidate will be inquisitive and have the ability to think outside of the box with a risk-based mindset.


In this role, you will:

o Lead complex initiatives by utilizing data-driven, advanced analytical, statistical techniques, algorithms, or models to make actionable insights, trends, recommendations, including those that are cross-functional with broad impact acting as key participant in large-scale planning

o Review and analyze complex, multi-faceted, larger-scale, or longer-term business, operational, or technical challenges that require in-depth hypothesis generation and advanced analysis of multiple parts, including intangibles or unprecedented factors

o Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted situations requiring an expertise in analytical thinking to resolve abstract business issues that influence and lead broader work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives

o Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level to senior managers to drive recommendations and strategies based on data driven, analytical insights, trends, and patterns that will resolve issues and achieve goals; may lead projects, teams or serve as a peer mentor

o Execute complex analytical experiments and create innovative statistical models to discover solutions for abstract business problems across various domains

o Interpret and analyze data, using advanced analytics modeling methods and programming, to recommend ways to solve problems and influence business decisions and strategies

o Provide consultation to peers on data science best practices, methods, and tools to leverage

o Communicate actionable insights and recommendations using data in a digestible format to a non-technical audience of varying levels


Required Qualifications:

o 5+ years of data science experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

o Minimum 5+ years of industry experience in developing Machine Learning and Statistical Models from idea generation to objective formulation to implementation and deliverables

o Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering or other relevant technical Fields

o Proven industry experience in natural language processing and text mining

o Strong understanding of statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design

o Proficient in programming languages commonly used in data science (Python, R, Spark, etc.)

o Practical knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings/vector search, document extraction tools (Azure Document Intelligence, Textract, DocAI), LangChain/LlamaIndex, and production MLOps.

o Strong SQL experience

o Working experience with Visualization tools using PowerBI and/or Tableau

o Expertise in developing and deploying distributed ML Models on a cloud environment

o Experience in GenAI/LLM (Claude, Gemini, and Llama 3.x)

o Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail and accuracy

o Ability to effectively form stories through data analysis

o Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important

o Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Job Expectations:

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
