Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers is seeking a (Gen AI) Data Engineer II to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining robust, scalable, and efficient solutions to support our Generative AI initiatives. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software developers to design and implement innovative data-driven applications and systems. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. The company does not sponsor/support H-1B petitions, TN, or Forms I-983/STEM OPT, for this role.What Will You Do?
  • Design, develop, and deploy solutions for Gen AI data engineering activities, including data ingestion, processing, storage, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to create Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and integrate LLM models into production-grade applications.
  • Develop APIs and microservices to facilitate data access and integration across various components of the Gen AI platform.
  • Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation to ensure the reliability, maintainability, and scalability of our software systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and Gen AI, applying them to enhance our platform.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Six years of programming/development experience preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role, with a strong focus on data engineering and Gen AI applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks/libraries like React.js and back-end frameworks/libraries.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and related services (e.g., AWS Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS, Redshift).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS.
  • Strong understanding of database systems and data processing frameworks (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Spark, Databricks).
  • Good understanding and experience of Gen AI concepts like Agentic Frameworks, RAG, LLM, Chunking, and Hyper-parameters.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
What is a Must Have?
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
  • 4 additional years of data engineering experience.
