Software Application Developer - Systems Development

Information Technology Department

Position Summary:

Software Application Developers design, build, implement, and maintain computer software applications to meet organizational needs including supporting custom business-facing applications. Software Application Developers maintain and support both new and existing applications to enhance function and maintain or improve performance, in addition to identifying opportunities for automation. This role will build solutions to directly support the day-to-day operations of the organization.

Outline of duties: 

  • Collaborate with SIA management and business users to define system requirements and specifications.
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom applications to support operational needs across multiple departments.
  • Create user-friendly, performant interfaces and build scalable, secure back-end services and integrations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements, translate process needs into technical solutions, and validate system functionality.
  • Integrate applications with enterprise systems and develop APIs to ensure smooth data exchange across systems.
  • Produce efficient, scalable, readable code that satisfies requirements and meets industry, SIA, and team standards
  • Conduct thorough testing including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide ongoing support for custom applications and troubleshoot issues with minimal disruption to critical business operations.
  • Modify software to fix errors, adapt to new hardware or runtimes, improve performance, or upgrade interfaces or component versions
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to team best practices and standards that elevate the overall development environment.
  • Deliver ad hoc reports and data extracts as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience 
  • Proficiency with modern front-end frameworks (Angular, React, etc.)
  • Proficiency with back-end technologies (Java or similar)
  • Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Experiencing building and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving capability with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environment
  • Ownership mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building applications that support real-time operations with preference to experience in industrial environments
  • Familiarity with data-driven decision making and analytics
  • Exposure to Agile or hybrid project methodologies
  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles
